Prerequisite: Beginners Basic and Advanced Basic curricula or equivalent.
Students taking this class should have a prior familiarity with all basic 6 count elements of the dance (single/double/triple rhythms and patterns; tucks, sendouts/returns, passes, exchanges, jigwalks, slingshots, etc.).
This class introduces the 8-count patterns, the basis for more complicated swing dancing. Closed to open; open to open; circle; swingout vs whip. Movements will be integrated into social dancing by combining with other 6- and 8-count patterns. Stylistic variations will be noted. Courses run in three month sequence.
All three months should be completed, in any order, prior to moving up to a higher level of instruction- get your instructor's recommendation prior to moving on. Students should repeat the sequence as often as necessary to master the techniques.
