At Dance Manhattan, Fox Trot is king for the month of May. Those inspired by Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers have a unique opportunity to learn their style and experience the elegance and romance of the Silver Screen. Fox Trot, attributed to and popularized by Harry Fox in the early Jazz Age (1914-1928) and sensationalized by Astaire and Rogers, takes center stage for a full month of programs spanning all levels of group classes, workshops, weekly dance practice parties, a dance outing to a Supper Club, and two social Dances at the studio with performances. The Silver Screen Ballroom Workshop

Whether you've experienced being swept away by dances such as The Carioca, the Yam, and the Continental or have never heard of them, Heather and Lou will teach you how to infuse your current dance styles i.e. rumba, fox trot, swing and waltz with a bit of old world class elegance and silver screen style romance. Lou and Heather's workshop will be followed by the weekly Ballroom practice DJ'd by Lou from 9pm-11pm (the practice is free for anyone attending the workshop or a current student at Dance Manhattan)

Tap Workshops
with Adam Brozowski & Nathan Bugh
Crazy Rhythm! Do those swing and Fox Trot rhythms have your toes tapping and urge you to move like Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, or Gene Kelly? Adam brings technique and basic steps into your repertory, followed by Nathan who will complement your tap-toolbox with more flashy-steps. No tap experience required. A great primer for those new to tap and curious, or interested in the Fox Trot-Soft Shoe Performance Class on Thursdays in May and June.
