Angel is seen here performing with partner, Atsuko, on Japanese Salsa Television

Atsuko Murakami
Atsuko’s strengths in musicality, rhythm, and styling are a direct result of 15 yrs practicing Piano, providing her with impecable rhythm and timing, and 9 years of studying salsa movement and styling.

Born in Japan, Atsuko has been dancing salsa since July 2004. Her visit to Canada in 2003 introduced her to the Latin Culture...it was here that her love of the dance was born. Upon her return to Japan, she began studying salsa, learning On1 while a member of the Salsa Locos dance team directed by Edwin and Fumiko. In 2008, intrigued by salsa On2, she began taking classes in Japan given by international guest instructor Angel Ortiz.

A quick learner, and already an experienced performer, she soon found herself traveling as assistant instructor to Angel Ortiz. Her travels brought her to the United States where she performed with Angel Ortiz at the annual Cincinnati Salsa Festival. She also visited Hawaii, New Jersey, and NYC where she continued to study On2 NY Club Style.

Atsuko recently relocated permanently to NYC to pursue the Salsa passion!
