For more than fifteen years, Diego Escobar has been dancing internationally with Argentine dance companies, performing in the United States, Germany, Spain, France, Belgium, Holland, Italy, China, Hong Kong, Great Britain, and Italy with some of the world's most accomplished Tango figures. He has won numerous awards for his dance, choreography and teaching. He has taught dance throughout Europe and Argentina.
Since 2002, he has performed with Tango x 2, appearing in venues as varied as Teatro Astrai in Buenos Aires and a Chanel in Tokyo. He also has performed in Barcelona, Jerusalem, Rome, Milan, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Macao and appeared on “La Rai,” Italian television. Mr. Escobar has shared the stage with renowned tango artists such as singer Raul Lavie, Piazzolla’s lyricist and poet Horacio Ferrer and musician Ruben Juarez who subsequently selected him to choreograph his show “Adriente y Pasional.”
Mr. Escobar has toured throughout Argentina and Europe with his own company, Tango Apasionado, and was a principal dancer with Piazzolla Tango and in Rome with Orchestra Narcotango. He also has appeared with the Jorge Arduh Orchestra at the Festival de Penas de Villa Maria before a live audience of 15,000. Mr. Escobar has danced with Gran Ballet Argentino and Ballet Carols Paz, directed by Cristina Sanchez, and Ballet Camin Cosquin.
He and his partner, Angelina Staudinger, visited Dance Manhattan for the first time in November, 2007.
