Recently Emily appeared on the ‘Great Gatsby’ episode of the hit reality show ‘My Fair Wedding.’
Emily has taught swing dance at events throughout the world, including the Hep Cats’ Holiday in England; the Southside Stomp in Norfolk, VA; the Shake, Rhythm & Roll Festival in Asbury Park, NJ; the Dance Flurry festival in Saratoga Springs, NY; and the internationally-acclaimed Swing Out New Hampshire Dance Camp. In NYC, she has taught for the Columbia University Swing Club, and at Midsummer Night Swing, Pier 54, the Frim Fram Jam, the Lindy Lab, and the Swing 46 Supper Club. Most recently, Emily taught a six-week series of classes at Poughkeepsie High School with Nathan Bugh, under the auspices of a $25K Pepsi Refresh project grant.
As a teacher, Emily strives to share the joy inherent in swing dance, and ignite that joy in her students. She creates a safe environment in which to explore fundamental technique, connection, and partnership, while encouraging individual expression and experimentation. Her spirited and patient teaching style make the dance accessible to even the most apprehensive beginner, while allowing the more experienced dancer to flourish.
When not teaching, Emily can usually be found in her natural habitat—on the dance floor!
